Traffic school
If eligible, you can go to traffic school to keep a point off your driving record. There's a fee to go to traffic school.
Traffic school
The notice from the court should say if you're eligible for traffic school
Generally, you can go to traffic school if
- You have a valid driver's license
- The ticket is related to a noncommercial vehicle
- You haven't gone to traffic school in the last 18 months
Some tickets are not eligible for traffic school. For example, equipment offenses (like a tail light being out) or alcohol or drug-related offenses. If you didn't get the notice from the court or aren't sure if you are eligible, you can contact the court to find out.
If you are eligible, pay a fee, sign-up, and go to traffic school
Contact the court if you want to do traffic school. The clerk or judge will give you a deadline to finish traffic school. Pay the court and a traffic school fee. Sign-up for traffic school. The DMV has a list of approved traffic schools.
If you complete traffic school, you don't get the point added to your DMV record (if you have a noncommercial drivers' license). If you have a commercial drivers' license the rules are different.
